BENEFITS OF A “TRAVEL POUCH”

CARRY-ON, ONLY IN STYLE TRAVEL POUCH

Since childhood, I’ve been a proponent of packing light and Travel pouch. One of the main reasons that I design reversible/multifunctional clothing is because they make  and packing light much easier.

You should pack what you’d wear on your trip. If you can pack less clothing, it will help you save space.

Recently, I read Erin McNeaney’s book “The Carry-On travel: The Ultimate Guide to Packing light”. Erin sold all her possessions and moved to the United States in 2010. She now travels around the globe with Simon. While traveling to over 30 countries using their carry-on backpacks, they also run a popular travel pouch blog called Never Ending Voyage.

The book was a delight to read and I enjoyed it immensely. It explained why you should not pack too much, how to pack and what to bring, and where to find Travel -friendly products. Erin also interviewed 11 people who use a Travel pouch and only carry on luggage.

The best part about the book is Erin’s explanation of why you should only use a Travel pouch with your carry-on. It was a great read and I would love to share it with others.

Below are all quotes taken from Erin’s book, except for those highlighted and italicized.

When I founded Travel, the best decision was to make my travel pouch lighter. I have saved my time, money, and backache. The best part is that I can now pack my entire belongings in 10 minutes and go on to the next adventure. – Erin McNeaney

  1. LESS STRESS TRAVEL POUCH

It’s easier to live with less. It’s easier to manage one bag on busy Travel pouch days than several bulky suitcases. It’s easier to move quickly and navigate around new cities with one bag than multiple bulky suitcases. You can search for the best accommodation and squeeze onto a packed bus to get there.

  1. MORE SECURITY TRAVEL POUCH

It’s much easier to protect one bag when you have only one. My backpack is always within reach of me on the way, while large bags are usually kept away from passengers. There is a chance that your luggage could be lost or delayed by the airline when you check in luggage.

  1. SAVE MONEY TRAVEL POUCH

You can save money by using a travel pouch for hand luggage. You can avoid paying extra fees by not having to check in your luggage with airlines. A carry-on and a are recommended. The savings can add up if you check in each bag on each leg of your trip.

You won’t buy unnecessary items if your travel pouch is light. You will be more mindful about what you buy when space is tight. You will learn to shop only to swap–to make sure you have enough to replace any items that are damaged, and not to add them.

  1. SAVE SPACE

Although Erin doesn’t list it, this one benefit is quite obvious. You can save space by only carrying a carry-on. More space, more peace, less stress.

  1. SAVE TIME AT AIRPORTS

My carry-on bag is the best thing I have. I can walk straight out of the airport without getting lost, even though I am tired from a long flight. After a long flight, this is a great benefit. You can also save time when checking in at airports by having your carry-on. Online check-in is available by most airlines. This allows you to skip long lines at security and get straight to the gate.
